How to upgrade Dell Mini 10v memory – Part 1 (disassemble)

jRin.net shows you how to upgrade the memory in the Dell Mini 10v netbook from 1GB to 2GB. Since there is no memory door, you have to fully dismantle the entire laptop to access the memory slot. (and due to the 10 minute video limit, I had to speed up some part and create a part 2 for putting everything back together). And yes, I now realize doing this on carpet is a bad idea :) See how to put it back together here: www.youtube.com For a picture guide and a full walk-through see my full post here: www.jrin.net For cheap memory available from amazon.com that would work on this netbook: astore.amazon.com

  • DELL just because u make this hard to do I’m going to change my mind now going for an Acer or Asus netbook.

  • @ktdeejay you’re absolutely right. It is a LMC. In my language, it is an acronym which means “even a rooster knows this”…

  • @DonMique doesn’t matter, but i did it after. osx is pretty friendly about it.

  • really nice video dude.. great shots and good pace. keep up the good work!

  • F**k, Dell should have just made a small hatch on the back so you could access the ram .

  • its not really that hard, i just did it right now to swap DC jacks. took like 20 mins

  • dont take it personaly, most people on you tube are assholes who just wanna talk shit, just ignore them. if u talk shit back u will just get him happy cause someone is paying attention to him

  • For Mac OS X you can’t have enough RAM.

1Gig is minimum for Snow Leopard

  • @DonMique You could do whichever you want first, it makes no difference.

  • hi there, great guide!
I was wondering, if I were to hackintosh one of these, should I upgrade the memory before or after the hackintoshing?
    Thanks!

  • DO NOT BUY DELL COMPUTERS!!!
Bottom Line: If you want to have a working computer? for longer? then 6 months and you
want to have good customer/technical support

    DO NOT BUY FROM DELL

  • Fuck off, my 9 year old daughter is not an idiot. You ever hear of accidents or mistakes? Maybe so day you will get some pussy and have some kids and see what kinda shit they will break up by mistake. Until then fuck off.

  • how the hell do you step on the screen. what an idiot lol

  • im going to make a small portable touch screen computer so im going to take apart a dell 10v and use all the stuff then make a new case[im thinking of a slide out design with keyboard on lower] and also add in a cd drive using 1 of the usb’s by desoldering 1 usb and adding an extra 4 on the case and have built in mobile broadband but now I know what the inside of dell 10v is so i can follow your instructions on pulling it apart

  • wow, what a pain. good thing I didnt buy a new stick of ram, not going to bother going through all this.

  • this doesnt seem very fun

  • fuck that, im not gonna risk my netbook for it. fucking dell, why did they made it this way??

  • on the site of dell mini 10.
imput AC output DC my first message was wrong

  • not sure what you mean by “its is AC looc”. please explain.

  • @theiceman1972 it is AC looc on the site of dell

  • leave it to dell to let thing s be held in place with 1 screw good video man :)

  • keep in mind, no AC ever makes it to the laptop. It’s strickly DC inside. You mentioned AC a few times in the video.

  • Do you happen to have a video of how to swap the screen? My daughter stepped on her screen and I want to put another on in. Please help.

  • A simple access panel would have made this take 2 minutes tops!

  • Why did dell make it so hard to add memory?!?!?!?! It seems like they designed it on purpose to make adding memory nearly impossible? They could have clearly added a door on the bottom for the memory!
