How to Connect a Mac/PC into a HDTV
Here I show you peoples how to plug any Mac(with mini display port or DVI input) or PC (with a DVI input) into a HDTV to use as a external monitor. so what cables do i need, i have the very latest Imac 21.5″ and a Samsung 40′ LCD HD TV. The tv and mac are a fair few meters away from each other, can you get extension cables?

Mini dvi-hdmi adapter straight to hdmi to vizio gives perfect video but NO audio only from the macbook which is ok.
Now how would you connect the HDTV and a ps3 and a Mac all in one? I am purchasing a Mac mini and using my LG tv and I don’t wanna switch my hdmi cable every time. Explain?

u should use a DVI – HDMI dongle instead of a cable
now u have NO SOUND threw the cable
with a dongle there is sound ! ( reason : in the cable u see u dont have all the pings. in a dongle u will have all the pings and the HDMI – HDMI cable will have sound

@swiffstep It is not necessary to use the Mini DVI to DVI adapter. This video was likely made before “Mini DVI to HDMI” cables were readily available.
@Whallean88 yes u can ….just make sure your computer graphics output can be inputed into your vizio….and when u initally plug in ur hdmi cable set your resolution to around 1024*768 just to be sure it will display,then work your way up to ur tvs highest resoultuion
can u not just use a ‘minidisplayport to hdmi’ adapter and connect it to your tv with a hdmi cable? or do u really need to convert it twice for it to work

Question: I have a Sony laptop with resolution of 1366 x 768, so how would I connect it to a 30 In. external monitor that has resolution of 1920 x 1600 without a DVI connection on my laptop? In order to get full resolution on the external monitor what should I use?
@magicharry17 No because Apple doesn’t support sending sound out through the mini display port.
