exactly the same method i use. i was fed up of using the keys on my key board for mixing plus you cant use your bass mid and treb while fading either, just using vdj straight to a mixer through 1 channel is toss. Anyone that uses vdj and is strapped for cash, this is the best and most effective way for mixing with this program.
The idea of this method Is that the DJ software will sum each stereo deck (2 channels each) to a mono channel (1 channel), enabling you to get 2 separate channels of audio from your built-in stereo headphone jack. BUT…If you are playing to any sort of decent audience you really want stereo. People notice that “something sounds bad!” when you play in Mono after they hear a song in stereo…I would really only recommend using this method to practice and get used to a computer, never to a party
Also Timecode cd don’t work with this unit.
This is bullshit!!!! I have the Gemini cdm 3600. It cannot be used as a midi controller nor will it work the way he is showing u!!!
@formuna101 Not really because the cdm 3600 doesnt have rca outputs like if a cd player or turntable would to connect into the mixer..so this setup is just for audio (controlling the software on the laptop)
@MIGU3L66 ahh man so I guess i need to get a sound card right ??
@formuna101 nope
Will timecodes still work ??
you get lower quality music this way. good for bedrooms and small gigs though
thanks. that help alot
I just grabbed a Gemini CDM-3600, good demo on the mono splitters. I find the Virtual DJ is easier to use with like a Numark Total Control, which I also have, but it’s good to know that connection you ran and the settings in Virtual DJ. I’m using Algoriddim Djay for Mac, much nicer for iTunes song management on a Macbook Pro.
So by doing this, will you have just the music from the left side on the left side and on the music from the left side just on the left side?? Instead if having both virtual decks on one line?
if you can’t find the cables, you can make them, simply buy the connector and some cable.
So this allows you to acess your computer library through Virtual Dj, correct?
Also, can this be done with MIXXX, or any other software?
@BassMasta099
it can be easily obtained at your local IT store
will it work with a stanton m1m2 mixer?
@E11oco well what DJJ3M said …with the amp and cables
