HP tx1000 no boot / black screen / motherboard repair

The HP tx1000 tablet has a defective NVIDIA chip which causes the laptop to get stuck at a black screen and not not boot over time. Conveniently, shortly after the 1yr warantee ends. This video shows how you can fix it

  • Try my copper shim instead of a penny. It is only $5 and comes with thermal paste. Search for “tx1000 copper shim” on ebay.

  • I connected and external monitor and it worked. So, i guess it is not the GPU.

    Any suggestion ?

  • You sir, are a bad ass.

  • I’ve just come across this problem with our tx2550eu which is about 18 months old now and Iis constantly in use. Until this week when when I we got was blue LED’s no bios no beeps. No help from Hp website when it’s apparently a known fault. wouldn’t have known what to do if it wasn’t for this video and other articals on NVidea, thanks

  • is this true jasonshay can i try this ?

  • @PDubIA I hope you work on computers, because Geek Squad has seen more newer HP’s than anything else, so clearly you need to go work a facility that works on computers for a living. All laptops are made with cheaper parts so its not just Dell or HP. Older Apples had problems but newer Apples are 100x better than any PC.

  • Awesome. Worked like a charm on my first attempt. Great tutorial.

  • hey,can I also do this to my hp notebook laptop?it is in black screen

  • I have a refurbished one from HP with the same problem, sometimes it will start up after 2 or 3 time, even if it was turned of for hours…

It will be great to make a video on how to open up the HP laptop step by step and how to take out the main board, since it’s my main problem, I don’t know how to open it correctly, so please make a video about it, I really appreciate it…
    thanks…
