@tim128lee i agree with gadgetfann…i just had my cw for almost 2 months now and it’s really a nice looking and good perferming laptop.However the battery life is a little bit disappointing, but not that bad…

This is far better than the MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo, Sony has the CULV Intel’s fastest Processor with great performance and low voltage consuming, allowing a video, music or photograph professional go outside for 8 hours without caring the power would go down. For me these laptops are better than those with Core i3 or Core i5 since these CPU’s use too much power and consumes battery very fast

Well, when I’m using I-tunes the processor is at his maximum. It isn’t a laptop for heavy software for sure!
@tim128lee The CW has better performance, but nothing beats the battery life of the Y. I literally NEVER take the power supply with me when I leave the house now. It’s a relief not to think about losing power.
@freezerlunik Real world – 5 hours standard battery 7 hours extended battery. That’s without trying to conserve any power. I have been able to get more life out of the batteries by dimming the screen, though.

Can you please comment on real-world battery life of VPCY118GX? Does it still suck (i.e. 3-4hours instead of advertised 8hours)? I like the looks and specs otherwise…
I’m thinking about getting this laptop, but the Sony Vaio CW series seems pretty good too. The CW has a better video card and has an optical drive (making it 5.3 lbs) and it comes with Intel Core i3… but it has around 4 hours of battery life. Which one do you recommend? Thanks again
@tim128lee No, surprisingly it doesn’t run slow or lag. Processor speed doesn’t seem to be a factor for any productivity software. I also use it for Photoshop.

I thought the Y series laptops just were available in silver color: is this black ?
