Google now is into the tinyurl features for Gmail for the small screen devices or mobile phones. And why not, when we are using Google maps or any target browsing so it matters, if the link is just not so long, it seems good and creates interest while working. well, eventually google realised that it will be smart move if we put links shorter for atleast mobile services they provide.

The feature is named as ‘Smart Links’ which is basically for the mobile version of gmail. Yeah as we know that the long links just take space and even not handy with the browsing over small screen devices. If there is google maps link so it is more annoying because of its length.

The Smart link works very smarter, it will just take the raw from the links and will convert it into the named or the very informative, a keyword kind of link.Google in a blog post says

“To solve this problem, we now shorten the link and automatically convert raw links into named links, which we call ‘Smart Links”.

Here’s a list of links that are currently supported :

    Google Maps address queries
Google Maps directional queries (with one destination)
    Google Sites webpages
    YouTube videos

Soon smartlink will be available for Google Docs also.To try this feature for Gmail mobile, visit gmail.com in your mobile browser. This version of Gmail for mobile supports iPhone/iPod touch OS 2.2.1 and above, as well as all Android-powered devices, and is available for US English only.
