Apparently, the MicroUSB connector is a surface-mount component that’s held in place only by its solder joints. Reports are coming in that the connector is breaking off. I haven’t had any issues with the connector, but you do need to be very gentle with it. The plug must be slid into the connector at the proper angle otherwise it’ll jam up. And if you force it, it’s not impossible for the connector to break especially if it’s not properly secured inside the phone. The same could be said for the headphone jack. UPDATE: The problem has been confirmed by a reliable source from an independent phone retailer. He’s had clients come back to him complaining of this particular problem. Nokia is now spreading the word to its support staff concerning this issue. Any phone experiencing this problem will be repaired for free during the phone’s warranty period. No word on a recall yet, but it might become necessary if this problem escalates just like the pedal and brake problems involving Toyota vehicles.
